So, you want to be in pictures do ya? What's that? You don't want to be in front of the camera and hunted down by TMZ the  rest of your life? Well, maybe being behind the camera is for you. Film school is a great way to fully emerge yourself in every aspect of the film making process. Many universities and colleges have some type of program, but obviously some are better than others.

The top 10 rankings you may find out there may need to be taken with a grain of salt. Everybody fits into a certain school differently, so I don't like to rank one better than the other.

So here is a alphabetical directory of some of the more respected film schools in the United States:

This place is cool. AFI's Center for Advanced Film and Television Studies is a Conservatory where leading artists mentor rising talents. The programs here are all hands on. They offer a two-year Master of Fine Arts program in six disciplines and a one-year Master of Arts degree in Digital Media Studies.

This was one of the first film programs in the country dating back to the early 1970's. They specializes in documentary, narrative, and environmental film making.

Thanks to founder Walt Disney, Cal Arts offers degree programs in film and video production. There are extensive media internship opportunities at Cal Arts because its staff/faculty is usually actively working in the entertainment industry.

NYU Film School, aka, Tisch School of the Arts opened in 1965. The film program is recognized internationally as the premier training site for professionals in film, television and radio. Fewer than 300 of the more than 1,000 applicants are admitted into the undergraduate program. This is the big leagues and going here will get you well on your way to a career in film.

UCLA Film School is considered among the finest in the country and offers students some of the best training possible for entrance into this demanding professions. UCLA Film and Television Archive is the largest collection of film and video holdings in the United States outside of the Library of Congress.

In the early 1980s a world class film and television complex at USC opened up becoming a very respected, first rate LA Film Scool. With its Los Angeles location, you really can't go wrong studying movie making here.
